Strategic Biz Dev Hustler

Overview:

Hey you! Yeah you. The Folk Rebellion team is growing and we’re looking for an awesomely fun and positive part-time or freelance Strategic Biz Development Hustler to join the gang. You will help grow the key accounts/stores/cafes/hotels/studios/etc where our monthly newspaper should be available for purchase. Our unicorn (you) has experience in growing distribution through new sales accounts...and preferably for an indie print pub (yes, we know we are asking a lot). You must be comfortable representing the Folk Rebellion brand and our publication, The Dispatch, and our ideals like simple living, unplugging, nature, rebellion, intellectualism, and being more like Bill Murray. You’re also a self starter, ready to hit the ground running, and able to work well autonomously. And though we are “go with the flow" creatives we still rock a good deadline and spreadsheet. Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Positive Mental Outlook & Yes I Can & Why Not Attitude.

  • Manages and achieve (and exceed!) Folk Rebellion sales and profit goals.

  • Consult, educate, strategize, and successfully sell the Dispatch into key accounts through high volume of sales calls/emails/visits – strong communication and tenacity

  • Prepare monthly sales reports highlighting key learnings, numbers and growth.

  • Build, nurture, and grow relationships with strategic sales partners and distributors.

  • Represent Folk Rebellion in all major contracts and own critical short- and long-term relationships with clients.

  • Own: order forms, fulfillment, point of communication, distribution and more.

  • Manage all incoming sales inquiries.

  • Help to create, improve and refine SOPs.

  • Maintain the Folk Rebellion brand and vision.

 

Requirements:

  • Tenacity, grit and a “do no harm but take no shit” kind of attitude.

  • Minimum of 3+ years of proven experience in print, experiential, and digital media sales or similar

  • Extensive existing network of contacts and working relationships with an array of relevant account, brands and companies.

  • Strong understanding of the media landscape and specifically the resurrection of print mediums...and can speak to it.

  • Preferred experience/network in the outdoor and/or wellness industry.

  • Self-starter who is comfortable working with limited instruction.

  • Must have experience with Indie Pub and/or hipster brands (lol, but seriously).

  • A passion for Folk Rebellion’s content staples: Unplugging, Outdoors, Simple Living, Wellness, Politics, Lifestyle, Parenting, as well as a general hunger for analog things

  • An organized approach to daily tasks, considering work will sometimes be done from wherever you see fit, either in NYC, Catskills or Patagonia

  • Based in NYC with the ability to travel if required (we’re in a beautiful loft/studio space by the Brooklyn Navy Yards).

  • Proficiency in Excel, G Suite, and Brandboom plus other CRM platforms.

  • Brownie points: Bartenders, servers, and others with experience in the service industry please apply. All hail current, former, and future restaurant workers of the world. Your hustle and ability to juggle front and back of house while keeping your cool and a smile on your face does not go unnoticed.
